Here are some frequently asked questions. All questions are important to us so if you do not find the answer you are looking for, just let us know!

What does Avodah mean?

In Hebrew, "avodah" (עֲבוֹדָה) means "work, worship, and service," encompassing both physical labor and spiritual devotion. Avodah is the heartbeat of our school; everything we do is for God’s glory. This Hebrew word can be found in Genesis 2:15, Exodus 34:21, Joshua 24:15 and other verses.

What ages/grades are taught at Avodah School?

Our school is a K-12 school. We are currently accepting applications for grades K-9. If you have a student in grades 10-12, please reach out to discuss with us.

What is your admissions process?

Parents are encouraged to review our handbook, website and calendar first. We welcome all questions if you would like us to clarify anything! Then complete an application and submit it by email to avodah.me@gmail.com. Parents are required to attend an informational session (contact us for options for this or if you are unable to attend a session). Next, families will complete an interview with a teacher and staff member. Acceptance will be determined by May 1st, 2025. Open enrollment options will be available if there are openings.

My student is at a higher/lower grade level than “typical”, will you be able to accommodate their needs?

Yes, we will accommodate individual student needs. We will do interviews and placement evaluations to evaluate academic levels so teachers can challenge and accommodate students based on their individual needs. This could potentially look like advanced/tiered assignments from teachers, students floating to higher or lower grade level courses (as approved by parents), enrichment projects, individual tutoring and other solutions as needed. This specific plan will vary based on student needs and teacher plans but we will foster academic growth for students at their level.

Does your school provide transportation to and from school?

No, we do not offer transportation to/from school.

If I am unable to pay tuition rates, is there financial assistance?

We hope to offer scholarships to students who need them. We are relying on donor partnerships to make this possible. When we are able to offer scholarships, we will share this information on social media and our website.

Your tuition seems higher than I was expecting. Can you explain?

This is an important question. Our tuition is comparable to some area private schools but also lower/higher than others. Avodah has certified teachers and qualified staff and our goal is to compensate them accordingly. It is important to us to have the resources needed to offer high quality education to children. We are a non-profit organization and our budget is extremely intentional.

Will our application fee be applied to my child’s tuition? Why do you charge the amount you do?

Our application fee is part of our operating budget. It is not deducted from the tuition rate but does go toward your child’s curriculum and education.

Do you offer sports or other extracurricular activities?

Our school will provide various enrichment opportunities, physical education, art, music, science, field trips and other interactive and exciting opportunities for students during our regular school hours. At this time, we will not have organized sports teams or after school activities but we hope to add these soon. If your child would like to participate in sports, they can often join their public school district (because they will be “homeschoolers”) or another local Christian school if they have openings.

What is your teacher to student ratio?

We will have about 15 students to every teacher. We will also have a teachers assistant to help with one on one needs and helping in the classrooms.

Are your teachers certified?

Yes, we will have certified teachers.

What is your schedule?

We will have school Monday-Thursday 8AM-2:45PM. Drop off begins at 7:45AM and pick up ends at 3PM. We will have a field trip day on the first Friday of every month. These days will follow the same schedule as above.

How is tuition paid?

Our tuition will be paid on a 10-month schedule (10 equal payments). Payments will be due on the first of the month from August-May. We accept check payments and an online payment option will also be available. If you choose to pay full yearly tuition by August 1st you will receive a 5% discount.

Is there a multi-child discount?

No, each students tuition will be the same.
